A Love Letter to Cats, the Universe, and Joy

Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved cats. I grew up with them—my parents always had a cat, a dog, or often both. Our home was filled with paws, purrs, and the soft rhythm of a tail swishing by. So, it felt natural that one day I would create a space where that kind of love could grow even bigger.

When I opened Purr Vida Lounge here in Costa Rica, it wasn’t just about cute cats and coffee. It was a way to do something meaningful for the universe—and also a way to keep my own heart full and happy. I wanted to create a place where animals could be safe, humans could heal, and everyone could feel the quiet magic that cats bring.
Since 2014, we’ve rescued 93 cats. Some were abandoned, some injured, some terrified of humans—but all of them were given a second chance. And every time one of them finds a forever home, it feels like the universe gives us a little wink. It's a reminder that kindness matters.

At Purr Vida, the cats aren't just decoration—they’re family. They give love to our guests, and in return, the café provides them with food, medical care, and safety. Watching a shy, scared cat transform into a confident, affectionate companion because of all the cuddles and care they receive—that’s the real reward of running this café.
My dream is simple: to rescue more cats, help them become the best version of themselves, and connect them with loving humans who need them just as much. Thank you for being a part of this journey.
With love and purrs,
Miss Meow & Purr Vida Pack
